CRISP, TENDER LETTUCES, smoky salmon, local author...

So much to share this week!
We have an abundance of fresh lettuces, so delicious you'll want to eat them on the ride home.
Neighbor, gourmet cook and caterer, Jennie, is now supplying us with her outrageously delicious smoked salmon and granola.
Our own Freeport Melissa Coleman has written a superb memoir THIS LIFE IS IN YOUR HANDS that we are proudly selling at the farm store (see more below).
There are now 4 chicks happily peeping in the coop--help us name them!

Cameron washing and packing lettuce for our wholesale deliveries.

One of our heirloom lettuce varieties--Italian Isher - a treat for your salad or sandwich
(or it stands alone!).

Justin harvesting morning lettuce.
"In the fall of 1968, Eliot and Sue Coleman--a handsome and idealistic couple from well to do families--pack a few essentials into their VW truck and abandon the complications of modern  reality to carve a farm from the woods... and become disciples of Helen and Scott Nearing."
A review of this fascinating memoir:

Once you have had Jennie's Hickory Smoked Salmon
with a slice of  Rosemont's crusty baguette
topped with horseradish sauce (my new favorite is Boar's Head),
you will think you're in heaven.
A glass of pinot grigio might be the only other ingredient necessary for this sunset treat.

Jenny and Martha setting out the morning harvests.  Local strawberries are the sweetest!

New this week--Vanilla Scented Granola, perfect with our berries and organic milk.
So, maybe we should start naming them with the letters from WEALDEN FARM and see how far we get?  The light one nearest Mom can be "Willow".  Let us know from here!
We always enjoy seeing and hearing from you.  Happy farming!
